KARIBU KATIKA UFUMBUZI WA RITIMU WA MUZIKI WA KISWAHILI!

Muziki wa Kenya ni wa aina mbalimbali, ukiwa na aina nyingi za muziki wa asili zinazotokana na lugha zaidi ya 50 za kikanda. Muziki wa Taarab ndio sauti inayopendelewa katika pwani ya Afrika Mashariki. Umaarufu wake umekuwa ukiongezeka kutokana na onyesho endelevu la wanamuziki wa Taarab katika harusi na matukio ya jamii.

Benga ni aina ya muziki maarufu nchini Kenya. Ilibadilika kati ya miaka ya 1940 na mwishoni mwa miaka ya 1960, jijini Nairobi, mji mkuu wa Kenya. Katika miaka ya 1940, Huduma ya Utangazaji ya Kiafrika huko Nairobi ilirusha mfululizo wa soukous, kwela ya Afrika Kusini, gitaa la kidole la Kikongo, na aina mbalimbali za muziki wa Kikuba ambao uliathiri sana kujitokeza kwa Benga. Kulikuwa pia na nyimbo maarufu za watu wa Luo wa Kenya ambazo zilichangia katika uundwaji wa Benga.

Bongo Flava (au Bongo flavor) ni jina la muziki wa Kitanzania. Aina hii ilijitokeza katika miaka ya 1990, hasa kama matokeo ya mchanganyiko wa hip hop ya Kimarekani na mitindo ya jadi ya Kitanzania kama taarab na dansi, pamoja na athari za reggae, R&B, na afrobeats, ili kuunda mtindo wa kipekee wa muziki.

Maneno kawaida huwa kwa Kiswahili au Kiingereza, ingawa tangu katikati ya miaka ya 2000, kumekuwa na matumizi kidogo ya maneno kutoka kwa mila za muziki za Kiafrika Kusini mwa Jangwa la Sahara kutokana na ushawishi wa Afrobeats na Kwaito na matumizi yao ya lugha ya Kiingereza ya Pidgin ya Magharibi mwa Afrika, Pidgin ya Nigeria au lugha zingine za Kreoli.

Jina “Bongo” la Bongo Flava linatoka kwa Kiswahili na kawaida lina maana ya ubongo, akili, na ujanja, lakini pia linaweza kumaanisha mtu aliye na akili pungufu. “Bongo” ni fomu ya kuongeza ya “Ubongo,” Kiswahili kwa Nchi ya Ubongo. “Flava” ni Kiswahili kwa ladha.

Kwa ujumla, hii ndiyo muziki wa Kiswahili katika aina mbalimbali – lugha ya Kiswahili inaunda msingi wa maneno yote!
