An evening organised by the Tanzania-UK Business Group, the dinner in honour of Her Excellency Mariam Mwinyi, First Lady of Zanzibar, was nothing short of extraordinary.
The evening began with a thunderous round of applause as Mama Mwinyi entered the room, radiating grace and charm. She was personally introduced to the guests by Zarina Jafferji and Mohamed Moledina before taking her seat.
Her Excellency addressed the gathering. She spoke passionately about her charitable work through the Maisha Bora Foundation, highlighting initiatives focused on empowering women and supporting children in Zanzibar. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, and the heartfelt presentation left many inspired.
As dinner was served, the room buzzed with a spirit of giving. During the second course, Tanzania Link generously pledged £1,000 towards the Foundation, with donations totalling £7,300 pledged in under half an hour a moment that visibly moved Her Excellency. Dessert and Turkish tea brought the evening to a close, with guests beginning to depart around 10:30 PM.
